Episode 67 of The Heart of Markness Podcast

We listen to the opening night (Sept 23, 1971) of Led Zeppelin’s first Japanese Tour, and it’s brilliant. They’re eager to show the audience why they’re the best band ever, and they succeed. We listen to a pristine Since I’ve Been Loving You, and a rapturous Whole Lotta Love with complete performances of Good Times, Bad Times, How Many More Times, You Shook Me, as well as tons of rock songs in the medley. It’s arguably the best Whole Lotta Love ever.

April 12, 1993 – A Mike Millard Master from JEMS

Achtung Baby was U2’s high water mark and what an album it was! JEMS has released another Mike Millard master recording, and it’s April 12, 1992 at the Los Angeles Sports Arena. It’s a great show from a great band promoting a great album. You can’t go wrong.

New York in Paris April 12, 1992

This is an excellent audience recording of Lou Reed touring in support of his New York album (one of the best albums of his career, and of the 80’s in general), at the Olympia Theater in Paris, June 23, 1989. He plays New York almost in its entirety, and the plays a bunch of songs from his whole career. It’s great.
